Leeds United sign experienced defender James Justin — Leedsunited.com 25/8/25

Full-back joins the Whites.

Leeds United are delighted to announce the arrival of highly-regarded defender James Justin in a permanent deal from Sky Bet Championship side Leicester City.

The 27-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Whites and becomes summer signing number 10 of a busy window for Daniel Farke’s team.

Justin has extensive Premier League experience and is just one game away from hitting 100 appearances in the top-flight, having also played on the European and international stage.

Beginning his career with hometown club Luton Town, Justin progressed through the academy into the first team. The 6ft’ full-back showed versatility to play on either side of defence, making him a regular from a young age.

During his early footballing years with the Hatters, James played a major role in back-to-back promotions. Firstly as runners-up in Sky Bet League Two, they went on to be crowned champions of the tier above in the following campaign.

For his efforts, Justin was voted as Luton’s Young Player of the Season, as well as being named in the EFL and PFA Team of the Season. Following this form, plenty of clubs showed interest in his services and he moved to Leicester City in the Premier League.

In his first year in the East Midlands, he helped the side to qualify for Europe by finishing in fifth place, a feat that would be repeated in the following campaign whilst also winning the FA Cup!

During his time at the King Power Stadium, Justin was into double figures for matches in European competitions and added even more experience at the highest level by being called up to represent England, making his debut in 2022.

Showing his leadership skills as well as footballing ability, the defender further complements Farke’s group of players after wearing the captain’s armband with the Foxes.

Everyone at Leeds United would like to welcome James to the club and we now look forward to seeing him in action in our upcoming matches.

“Obviously to join a club of this size and to have the history it has had, and being back in the Premier League was a massive thing for me, so I'm over the moon to have joined,” our new signing began, speaking about his reasons for the move.

“It's been a while since I've known of the interest, but obviously I was still a Leicester player, so I had to give my all for Leicester whilst I was there.

“That's something obviously that you can expect from me when I put on a Leeds shirt, is to give my all when I'm on the pitch. But for it to finally have happened, it’s taken a weight off my shoulders for sure.

“Everyone that I've spoken to about the club and the area has had great things to say about it. So I'm excited to join the lads and get to work.”

With the Premier League season now underway and having played against the Whites before in his career, James is looking forward to returning to Elland Road on the home side this time.

“The stadium has obviously got one of the best atmospheres in world football,” he stated.

“And it's always a daunting task to come here as an opposing team, but I'm happy to have the fans behind me this time.

“Hopefully I can put on the shirt in front of the fans and show them what I can do, if selected, and hopefully I can train up until then to get myself ready as possible.”
