49ers Enterprises Elland Road vision discussed and main Leeds United 'focus' highlighted — Leeds Live 10/9/24
The development of Elland Road is part of the owners long term vision
The 49ers Enterprises have set out their stall to turn Leeds
United into a serious force again. The expansion and improvement of Elland Road
will be part of the ownership group's long term plan to boost the club's
revenue streams.
It was announced in the summer that United had assumed full
control of their home ground for the first time in 20 years earlier, with the
49ers transferring control in March. Upgrades to concourses, toilets and
lounges have already been made since the 49ers bought the club from Andrea
Radrizzani. Work on investing into the stadium is ongoing, with chairman Paraag
Marathe stating that expansion plans have not been put on hold despite the
club's failure to gain promotion to the Premier League last term.
Finance expert Kieran Maguire has claimed any imminent
investment into Elland Road will focus more on corporate development. “In
relation to Leeds, I suspect 49ers Enterprises will have a greater focus on
improving facilities at the higher end of the Elland Road project, in terms of
hospitality etc,” Maguire told TBR Football. “The return on those investments
tends to be much higher than offering additional seats to the core fanbase.
“But if there is an opportunity to add a couple of thousand
seats, we are probably looking at no more than 3,000 to 4,000 maximum. The main
focus will be on improving what the club can offer to the corporate sector. The
prices charged and the ability to increase those prices is much greater than it
is for regular season ticket holders.
