Legal lag as Leeds United await court answers finally - Finance Expert — MOT Leeds News 7/12/23
By Dan Plumley
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel
Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the
biggest talking points at Leeds United.
Dan Plumley has insisted that there will be a “lag” as Leeds
United await an answer over their latest appeal in the Jean-Kevin Augustin
legal fight.
AP reported on 21 September that the Whites had appealed the
wage settlement to Augustin to CAS again, with the initial hearing set for 16
November over the £24.5million payment.
The finance expert admitted that the amount of due diligence
and documents can delay the outcome, something Leeds will learn first before it
enters public domains.
“It can do,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News when asked
if these things can take time.
“Exactly the same narrative, the amount of due diligence you
have to do over the documentation, the amount of back and forth internally, the
stuff that we don’t see from the legal side of things.
“Despite hearings taking place, there can be a bit of a lag
between that and getting the verdict out there and it’s one of those where
you’re always trying to second guess but it’s just a case of waiting until we
see the full verdict.
“The club will get sight of that beforehand and then it will
make it into the public domain at some point.”
