Leeds United: Squad is ‘the best in years’ insists Warnock

Leeds United’s current playing squad is in its best state “for years”, according to Neil Warnock.
The United manager said the Elland Road club were destined to avoid another first-team overhaul this summer, despite the likely failure of their latest bid for promotion to the Premier League.
Warnock’s signings for this term ran into double figures as he attempted to refresh a squad who finished 14th in the Championship last term.
But the 64-year-old – out of contract in June – said: “The club hasn’t been in a better state for years. You might think that’s hard to believe but it’s not like we’re looking for 10 players in the summer. We’re looking for probably two. That’s the situation we’re in.”
Warnock, however, looks unlikely to add to his squad in the immediate future, insisting the arrival of a new winger would “unsettle” a team who turned in strong performances against Blackpool and Blackburn Rovers last week.
He also ruled out another move for West Bromwich Albion’s Jerome Thomas, who spent time on loan at Leeds before Christmas, saying: “He’s not available. We did ask about him again but they want him.”
