Grayson quashes Leicester City hotseat speculation
By Phil hay
Simon Grayson has reaffirmed his commitment to Leeds United amid speculation linking him to the vacant manager's job at Leicester City.
Grayson appears to have ruled himself out of the running for the post at the Walkers Stadium following claims that he was one of City's preferred candidates to replace Nigel Pearson.
Pearson stepped down as Leicester boss early this week to take charge of Hull City, and Grayson was named as a potential target of last season's losing Championship play-off semi-finalists, a team he represented as a player for five seasons.
United are not thought to have received any contact from Leicester, whose chairman Milan Mandaric has been in Africa on holiday, and the Elland Road club would be highly unlikely to consider any attempt to court Grayson.
Swansea City's Paulo Sousa is understood to be a leading contender for the Leicester job.
Forty-year-old Grayson masterminded United's return to the Championship last season, at the end of his first full term in charge, and he dismissed speculation linking him to City on the first day of Leeds' pre-season schedule.
Grayson said: "I've just got a team into the Championship and it's the football club who I support. I've got a job to do here.
"I'm flattered by the speculation but I'm certainly committed to being at Leeds United for a lot longer than this."
Grayson has been manager of Leeds for 18 months, a period in which the club have lost only 19 of the 87 matches played under him, and his plans for next season are well advanced following the signing of four new players.
