"We have shown" — Dominic Calvert-Lewin's strong message on Leeds United's survival chances and 'let downs' — YEP 19/11/25

Leeds United are one point clear of the Premier League dropzone after 11 games played.

Whites striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has delivered a confident verdict on Leeds United’s survival chances, reflecting on Whites ‘let downs’ with a ‘win or learn’ message.

Leeds are back in the Premier League at a time when the last six newly-promoted teams have all gone straight back down but Daniel Farke’s Whites remain above the relegation zone after 11 games played.

The team’s cushion, though, is nowhere near as big as it was, Leeds now just one point clear of the bottom three having kicked six points clear of the dropzone with the 2-1 win at home to West Ham United at the end of October.

Leeds now face Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in a particularly tough next four games but Calvert-Lewin says his squad have full belief in their survival bid having already “shown what we are capable of”.

The striker believes “small details” have let his team down but feels that a “win or learn” philosophy can ultimately help keep Leeds in the division in their first season back.

Speaking to Sky Sports, it was put to Calvert-Lewin that Leeds had given themselves a fighting chance to be in next season’s Premier League.

The no 9 reasoned: “Statistically, the teams that are newly promoted are always backs against the wall from the start.

"It's normal, it's always been that way, so I think that, for us, more so for ourselves, in our performances we have shown what we are capable of, what we are good at, where we need to improve and I think it's having that mentality of win or learn.

"You either win or if you don't get the result you are looking for you analyse why and I think it's been small details where we have probably let ourselves down and that's where I am talking about where we need to improve.

“Over the course of the season you have to turn those moments into your favour and then that's ultimately what gets you up there.

"But we've got full belief in our ability within our squad that we can achieve our goals and our targets and that's what we are striving for every day and creating a winning environment."
