How Leeds United criticism is affecting Daniel Farke behind the scenes — Leeds Live 7/12/24
The naysayers have been out since the Blackburn loss
Criticism or pressure is not getting through to Daniel
Farke, who always expected there would be extreme opinions on his management at
Leeds United. The German took the Whites to the play-off final last season, but
lost and has the Whites three points off top spot with 18 games played this
term.
Paul Warne, who will be in the away dugout this afternoon,
addressed the perceived pressure on Farke’s shoulders ahead of today’s match.
The Derby County boss could not understand why his counterpart would be under
pressure after a third loss of the campaign last weekend.
Warne’s support was welcomed by Farke, but if he remains
level-headed about those supporters who are critical of his management. He knew
it came with the territory and pointed back to Marcelo Bielsa’s era, when he
was criticised, despite taking the club from the middle of the Championship to
the top half of the Premier League.
“We've got a good relationship and there is objective data
that, perhaps, whatever, backs his words,” said Farke. “Paul is experienced
enough, he knows it’s Leeds United and Leeds United is always such an emotional
club and it's quite normal.
“You can win the Premier League and you can win the
Champions League and for each and every other club there are still a few per
cent of people who are not happy or something like this. I don't feel at all
criticised or under pressure or something like this.
“I know exactly what we're doing and I knew, when I signed
the contract, what an emotional club Leeds United is and this club always
polarises. Even during Marcelo’s time, he had an incredible time, he has done
wonders, miracles for this club and was outstanding for this club.
“I heard, even during this time, [people] criticising him
for his football or for his approach. This is what happens and if you can't
handle the heat, then don't go into the kitchen. I appreciate the kind words
and thanks a lot for that.”
