Leeds United strike deal with local rival for wantaway defender as Whites due fee after 'medical booked' — YEP 23/7/24

By Joe Donnohue Recently released Leeds United defender Cody Drameh is set to undergo a medical at Hull City ahead of a free transfer to the Humberside club, according to reports. The former Leeds full-back departed Elland Road this summer at the end of his contract, having turned down the chance to extend with the club, following loan spells with Cardiff City, Luton Town and Birmingham City over the past couple of seasons. Drameh worked under several Leeds bosses but struggled to nail down a place in the starting XI throughout his time in West Yorkshire and was most recently deemed surplus to requirements by Daniel Farke after a brief run-out versus Ipswich Town at the beginning of last season. The ex-Fulham man was relegated from the Championship with Birmingham, but had previously won promotion to the Premier League whilst on loan at Luton and clinched Cardiff's Player of the Season during his time with the Bluebirds. Hull have moved to sign the 22-year-old on a perman...

West Ham 'submit proposal for Crysencio Summerville' but deal isn't close with Leeds star considered 'very expensive' West Ham have made an offer for Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville A deal for Summerville, who is considered 'very expensive', isn't currently close By JEORGE BIRD West Ham have reportedly made an offer for Leeds star Crysencio Summerville. According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal isn't close, with the winger considered 'very expensive'. The Hammers have also held talks with the 22-year-old regarding a potential move. Roma are also monitoring Summerville but will only pursue a deal if they are not able to sign Matias Soule from Juventus. Leicester are also interested in Soule, who is valued at £34million. Summerville has two years remaining on his current contract at Leeds. Summerville, who has been capped by the Netherlands at Under-21 level, signed for Leeds from Feyenoord in September 2020. Since then...

Home comfort and £40m parallels as Leeds United man feeds back amid training camp secrecy — YEP 22/7/24

By Graham Smyth Leeds United have tried to throw a tight net around their German training camp to keep its location and some of their tactical preparations under wrap, but reports are still leaking back to the UK from at least one source. The bizarre decision taken by German police to keep Whites supporters away this summer has led to a somewhat clandestine approach from Leeds. They cannot stream their two friendly games live, the YEP's match coverage will sit under an embargo for a short time and care has been taken to get the angles of training footage right so as not to showcase exactly where they are based. Leeds fans, of course, have a dedication to detective work that would humble Frank Columbo, but the club's feeling is that they have to abide by the rules. However not even German chancellor Olaf Scholz himself could dictate that Charlie Crew ceases communication as he sends scouting reports of his own back to Cardiff. Barely 18, Crew is one of the youngest members...

Leeds United away kit: Teaser spotted on city centre billboard with 'smiley' badge hint ahead of announcement — YEP 22/7/24

By Tom Coates Leeds United have teased the announcement of their new away kit - and dropped a major design hint. The club recently unveiled their new home kit for the 2024/25 season, to mixed reviews. While many fans complimented the design, the prominence of the colour red on the Red Bull sponsor logo proved controversial. ‘Red’ is a colour typically associated with Leeds’ bitter rivals Manchester United. However, social media is awash with excitement regarding the imminent arrival of Leeds’ away kit announcement. A post shared on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, has shown a Leeds city centre billboard teasing the announcement. ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!!!! #LUFC pic.twitter.com/zeOxMxiSLB — Lord Bradley Green - CLUB 1919 Podcast (@reallordgreen) July 22, 2024 The billboard, located near the Old Red Lion pub between Water Lane and Meadow Lane, shows the iconic Leeds ‘smiley’ badge next to a QR code. When the code is scanned, it takes fans to the club website. ...

PRE-SEASON HERITAGE — Square Ball 22/7/24

Image
Harrogate Town 0-3 Leeds United: Exotic Written by: Chris McMenamy New faces. New shirt. LUTV charging a fiver for a jumpy stream. This is Leeds United pre-season heritage. The same old, same old. Or so I thought until 7.30pm on Friday night. Leeds United lining up in a back three? How exotic! Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu resumed their Cymry partnership at the back, this time with a new friend in Under-21s defender James Debayo. At half-time, Pascal Struijk returned alongside Sam Byram operating as a wide centre-back in what appeared to be a 3-4-3. Well, this is new, isn’t it? And here was me thinking I had sacrificed a Friday evening in the sun to watch Brenden Aaronson get hazed by a group of League Two footballers. This is not Sam Allardyce’s interpretation of a ‘back three’, like when he played four centre-backs and two full-backs on the day Leeds needed to win to avoid relegation. No, this is a trendy back three like those of Antonio Conte, Atalanta’s Gian Piero Gasperini or...

Jayden Bogle admission highlights Leeds United transfer blueprint as pre-season hope outlined — YEP 22/7/24

By Kyle Newbould Leeds United are making a habit of wrapping deals up quick and the £5m arrival of Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United Jayden Bogle was aware of Leeds United’s interest in him several weeks ago and the lack of noise surrounding his prospective move is starting to become typical in West Yorkshire. Bogle’s move to Leeds was confirmed late on Saturday evening, with the 23-year-old putting pen to paper on a four-year deal. Sheffield United accepted what has been officially described as an ‘undisclosed’ fee, but the YEP believes it to have been in the region of £5million, a slight increase on the £4m offers that were rejected early last week. Things moved relatively quickly last week as Leeds turned interest into offers and then offers into a medical and four-year deal. There was patience in keeping the price down for a player in the final year of his contract but those in charge at Elland Road got things wrapped up with minimal fuss and speculation. Bogle only emerge...

Leeds United attacker takes step forward, prize asset's reminder and teenager's off-camera backheel — YEP 21/7/24

By Graham Smyth Leeds United showcased something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue in Sunday morning's training session in Germany. The old was an inescapable part of pre-season that players moan about but know deep down they have to do: running. There was lots of it. There was lots of football, too, but in between fast-paced and intense six-a-side games the players were gathered in the middle of the training ground for repeated sprints, having bookended their session with jogs around the perimeter. The new was represented by a classy black staff training kit, which outclasses last season's horrid green effort by some distance, and the greenhorn teenagers joining the first team for this camp. Farke is giving training opportunities to 15, 17 and 18-year-olds and after watching their peer Archie Gray fly last season they will be dreaming of following in his footsteps. The club's new breakthrough star could be set to show himself between now and t...
