McDermott in no rush to spend money

Brian McDermott admitted he had little expectation of forcing a deal to bring Luciano Becchio back to Elland Road after revealing that the striker is still in Norwich City’s plans.
McDermott’s search for a new forward and a new winger has been put on hold temporarily with the international break set to begin after Saturday’s match with Derby County, and he played down the prospect of Leeds United persuading Norwich to part company with Becchio.
McDermott has spoken to Norwich manager Chris Hughton about the availability of the Argentinian, who left Leeds for Carrow Road in January, but said: “Becchio’s one of his 25. He’s got four strikers and if he loses one then Luciano will be involved. That’s how it is.”
United’s boss has been given permission by his board to seek out two loan signings but McDermott is preparing to take the same group of players to Derby saying: “The thing is, if you add now then you’ve got two weeks with no games.
“We’ll go to Derby with the squad we’ve got.”
