Leeds United: Carbone leaves Whites

Yorkshire Evening Post 3/8/14
Benito Carbone has quit his role as Leeds United’s development squad coach and left the club, owner Massimo Cellino confirmed today.
Carbone parted company with Leeds on Friday, little over two months after joining as a technical advisor.
The former Bradford City forward came to Elland Road shortly after Cellino’s takeover of the club in April, assisting Cellino in his restructuring of the Championship side.
He subsequently became coach of Leeds’ Under-21 squad, replacing Neil Redfearn, has now moved on just a week before the start of the season.
Cellino said Carbone had resigned for “family reasons” but it is understood that the relationship between the two men deteriorated badly in the past month.
Cellino said: “Benito has gone. He has gone for family reasons. A family member (of his) is ill.”
Carbone was employed as an advisor by Cellino despite the fact that they had never previously met or worked together.
Talking to the YEP in May, Carbone said: “I knew the name, Mr Cellino, but the day I came here I met him for the first time.
“But we have the same ideas. If you don’t have the same ideas, you don’t work with him.”
Redfearn has reverted to his old position as development coach following Carbone’s departure.
He and first-team assistant boss Junior Lewis took responsibility for Wednesday’s friendly at Glenavon, with Carbone absent from the fixture.
The academy team at Thorp Arch has already undergone significant change this summer with Under-18s coach Richard Naylor sacked last month and Under-16s coach Leigh Bromby released at the end of his contract.
