Vital Leeds 30/7/14
Leeds cruised to a comfortable win in Northern Ireland as young midfielder Chris Dawson continued to enhance his reputation with a hat-trick.
The whites beat Glenavon 5-0 with Matt Smith and Eoghan Stokes also getting on the score sheet.
Leeds fielded a mixture of youth and experience with out of favour goalkeeper Paddy Kenny starting along with Gaetano Berardi and Matt Smith who featured at Swindon Town on Tuesday night.
Alex Mowatt continued to build up his fitness following injury and there was also a place in the side for Dominic Poleon.
Smith had an early chance for Leeds but he placed his header straight at McGrath in the Glenavon goal.
Dawson opened the scoring for Leeds on 19 minutes as his shot crept in the bottom corner.
There was a good moment in the first half when former Leeds striker and Northern Ireland`s record goalscorer David Healy came on for the hosts and he forced Kenny into a save from a free-kick.
Smith had an effort ruled out during the first half as Leeds went in at the break ahead thanks to Dawson`s goal.
The lead was doubled early in the second half when Dawson showed good ability with a fine individual goal and he completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot just past the hour.
Smith finally got on the score sheet when he powered home a header and substitute Eoghan Stokes completed the win inside the final ten minutes.
