Former Leeds United owner Ken Bates says he supports Massimo Cellino's ongoing work at the club.
Speaking to Radio Yorkshire, Bates told the station he owns that the club's new Italian owner has a real challenge on his hands.
He said: "I like him. He has inherited a terrible mess. If I may say so, prior to GFH, Leeds United were making profits, and were reducing debt.
"Cellino inherited a shell, a horrible empty shell. He's a foreigner in a foreign country very different to Italy. He's not sure who he should trust.
"I've made it quite clear I'm happy to help in any way possible with no ulterior motive.
"He's finding his way. He needs to be given all the support by the fans and he'll obviously make mistakes but by and large his hearts in the right place and he's getting there."
Bates went on to insist he has positive relations with the Italian, which has led to his radio station securing commentary rights for the club's upcoming matches.
