Davison is admirer of United’s trialist Poloskei

LEEDS UNITED trialist Peter Poloskei is talented enough to do well in English football, according to the forward’s former manager in Hungary.
Bobby Davison signed Poloskei, 24 last month, in 2008 when in charge of Ferencvaros, whom he led to promotion a year later by 17 points.
Poloskei, who played for Leeds’s development squad in Monday’s 3-1 win over Wigan Athletic, became a mainstay of the Ferencvaros side but left earlier this year.
Former Bradford City assistant manager Davison said: “Peter is big, quick and can finish. When I worked with him at Ferencvaros, he could have done with believing in himself a bit more but that may have changed.
“We took him on a free as, at the time, he seemed a good prospect. Plus, there is a rule in Hungarian football that means you have to field three players aged 20 and under for the 90 minutes.
“Peter was 19 or 20 at the time, and in many ways he reminded of a young Dean Ashton. He did well for Ferencvaros.
“We played either 4-3-2-1 or 4-3-3 and Peter played in a wider role after we signed (Istvan) Ferenczi, who had been at Barnsley and scored goals for fun back in Hungary.”
Davison, who is back in England and looking for work after a spell coaching in Spain, believes Poloskei can make an impact in England.
He said: “The lad has the talent, that’s for sure. And if handled correctly, he can be a big success.”
Poloskei had a trial spell at Coventry City earlier this summer but failed to win a contract despite playing in several friendlies.
The Hungarian was joined in the Leeds development squad that beat Wigan by another trialist Sean Myler, a former trainee at Everton.
United triumphed 3-1 with Poloskei netting the first before goals from Zac Thompson and Dominic Poleon completed a win that was marred by a serious injury to Ramon Nunez.
The Honduran is facing a potentially long lay-off, although the club’s medical staff are waiting to assess the damage of the injury once the swelling on his knee has eased.
Meanwhile, Queens Park Rangers have left former Leeds striker Rob Hulse and DJ Campbell out of their 25-man squad to play in this season’s Premier League.
Mark Hughes effectively freezing out Hulse has fuelled speculation in London that Neil Warnock, who managed the striker at both Sheffield United and Rangers, could make a move.
Leeds are on the lookout for an additional striker when the loan window opens this weekend.
Campbell, who has previously been linked with Huddersfield Town, has signed for Warnock in the past and could also do a job at Elland Road.
