Dominic Calvert-Lewin reveals season-defining moment Leeds United found their Premier League belief — Leeds Live 14/12/25
Leeds United are now three games unbeaten and climbing the table
Dominic Calvert-Lewin believes Lees United's second-half
performance at Manchester City is one of those moments which can define a
season and ultimately be the game where his side set on the path to safety.
Leeds may have lost against Man City, but the nature of
their display in coming from two goals down before seeing a draw snatched away
from them in the dying seconds, looked like it had galvanised Daniel Farke's
men.
What followed was an impressive 3-1 victory over Chelsea and
then a 3-3 draw at home to Liverpool before again coming from behind, this time
to earn a deserving point at Brentford.
Calvert-Lewin scored for the fourth successive Premier
League game to earn Leeds that point, and then made it clear what was the key
moment in helping the Whites turn their campaign around.
"There are certain moments in seasons where there are
turning points. The second half (against Manchester City) was definitely a
turning point for us," Calvert-Lewin told Sky Sports.
"We were going into a tough week and we said we were
not defined by one game, but how we did in that week could determine how we do
going into Christmas. The performance in the second half against City
definitely gave us the confidence going into Chelsea to believe we can compete
at this level.
"We have across the board top players that can compete
at this level and it is about bringing it all together. It was a great week,
but it was important to back it up and if you can't win don't lose, so we will
take that."
Leeds extended their inbeaten run to three games and in
doing so moved three points clear of the relegation zone after West Ham's
defeat at home by Aston Villa.
"I think in the end it is a point gained but three
points were there for the taking," added Calvert-Lewin. "We hung in
there first half and we didn't give them too much to go off. The second half we
wanted to start on the front foot and we did that, so going a goal down was
frustrating.
