Leeds United braced for fresh offers for talisman skipper Ross

Leeds United are remaining resolute in their desire to keep star striker and captain Ross McCormack in the wake of stiff interest from Fulham.
United owner Massimo Cellino has reportedly rebuffed a £5m offer for the Scot’s services, although the club did not comment on the reports which surfaced yesterday.
Fulham are expected to maintain their interest in McCormack and are being tipped come back in with an improved offer, with several other clubs watching developments regarding United’s talisman.
Derby County and Norwich City are monitoring the situation, with both in the market for a new striker.
The Rams remain fans of McCormack, but it is unlikely that they will have the financial wherewithal to fund a successful move.
Finance would not be so much of a problem to Norwich, armed with parachute payments, following relegation to the Championship.
Despite signing one forward already this summer already in Bournemouth’s Lewis Grabban, Canaries manager Neil Adams is intent on bringing in another frontman, with the futures of both Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Gary Hooper appearing uncertain.
Meanwhile, released United midfielder Paul Green admits he is in the dark over whether Ipswich Town will make a move for him on a full-time basis – after his loan spell at Portman Road in the second half of last season.
Pontefract-born Green was one of seven senior players released last month along with El-Hadji Diouf, Danny Pugh, Luke Varney, Michael Brown, Adam Drury and Jamie Ashdown.
Green, who recently returned to the UK following international commitments with the Republic of Ireland, is now turning his attentions towards his next move – and has revealed he has already spoken to several clubs, while also disclosing that Ipswich have yet to offer him a permanent deal.
Green impressed at Portman Road during his loan spell, scoring twice in 14 appearances for the club and admits that if Ipswich offered him a contract, it would be represent a considerable attraction with the 31-year-old thoroughly enjoying his time in Suffolk.
He said: “My agent has spoken to Mick (McCarthy), but no offer has been made yet.
“I really enjoyed it at Ipswich and I could see me moving down there, but you never know what is going to happen.
“I have spoken to a couple of other teams, but nothing is certain yet. It’s a case of wait and see, but Ipswich would definitely be at the top of my list.
“Mick (McCarthy) was brilliant and was a big attraction in me going down there, he knows how to get teams out of this division.
“He also creates a great team spirit and I didn’t want the season to end.”
Most clubs return to training early next month and Green admits that getting fixed up with a club prior to the start of pre-season would be his ideal scenario.
He added: “You don’t want to be missing much of pre-season as it’s such an important part of the build-up to the season.
“I remember missing one and you are playing catch-up all the time.
“It would be nice to get something sorted in the next couple of weeks.”
