Varney refuses to play with move away on the cards

Luke Varney refused to play for Leeds United in their game with Ipswich Town on Tuesday night.
Varney is reported to be on the verge of a move away from Elland Road and Leeds boss Brian McDermott revealed after the 1-1 draw with Ipswich that Varney had approached him and asked not to play to avoid the possibility of injury, something that could scupper the move.
Fellow championship side Blackburn Rovers have been reported to be interested in signing Varney in the past few days.

The Whites are closing in on a deal for a centre-back as Jack Harrison closes on a move to Everton. By Mark Carruthers Leeds United are reportedly closing in on a £10million deal to make Liverpool defender Nat Phillips their fifth summer signing. Daniel Farke has already completed permanent deals for Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu, Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow and former Norwich City full-back Sam Byram. The BBC Sports reporter shared via his personal Twitter account that, despite reports in Italy claiming a £38.5million deal had been agreed between the two clubs, the Italian’s valuation has not yet been met.
