Leeds United offer first team player to Cesc Fabregas for PSR profit — Leeds All Over 21/8/25

Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier clearly has no future at Elland Road after losing his spot in the squad following the arrival of Lucas Perri, and it leaves him sure to pursue an exit in the coming days.

Lucas Perri has already got off the mark with a clean sheet in Leeds United colours after a crucial 1-0 home win against Everton, commanding his area fairly well and showing off his astonishing long throw for the first time.

Watching on was Illan Meslier, not in the matchday squad with Karl Darlow on the bench for Daniel Farke, further proof that the writing is on the wall for the 25-year-old Frenchman.

Leeds United ‘offer’ Illan Meslier to Cesc Fabregas’ Como for €5million

Meslier comes into this season with his stock at Elland Road as low as it’s ever been after being axed from the lineup back in April with just seven games to play in the Championship promotion race.

His contract has entered its final year, and now Italian outlet Il Giorno report that Meslier has now been offered out by the club for a transfer.

The club in question that Meslier has been offered to, per the report, is ambitious Serie A side Como, managed by Cesc Fabregas.

Fabregas’ side are still in the market for a new goalkeeper and have set their sights on Barcelona’s Inaki Pena on a long-term deal, but the Catalan club only intend to tie him down to a new contract and loan him out, prompting Como to have alternatives in mind:

“Como then asked Venezia for information for Filip Stankovic, who last year played 16 games in Serie A,” the report reads.

“Leeds also offered Como the goalkeeper Illan Meslier, for 5 million (£4.33m), after the purchase of Lucas Perri. Meslier, however, would come to Como only to be the first goalkeeper: Fabregas is evaluating the situation.”

Meslier signed permanently for Leeds back in the summer of 2020 for a reported £5million from Lorient, and as he’s now in the final year of his extended contract, only holds a PSR book value of an estimated £667,000 – so the fee Leeds have offered the Frenchman out for would represent a book profit.

Illan Meslier needs to leave Leeds United, Como would be a superb opportunity

Meslier’s time at Leeds is virtually over, and Leeds need to find a buyer for him before the end of the window to benefit all parties.

A move out of the UK seems most obvious now to get out of the pressure that comes with playing for Leeds, and Como would obviously be a great opportunity.

The likes of Assane Diao, Nico Paz, Martin Baturina and many other young talents have all shown that the Como project is worth keeping an eye on, and that surely intrigues Meslier.

What is clear is that if Leeds are happy to take £4.33million for him to leave, it shows just how much his stock has crashed since his breakout season in 20/21.
