A big new signing and star men are missing in the Leeds United team news versus Villarreal.

Whites boss Daniel Farke has named his Leeds United team to face Villarreal in Saturday afternoon’s penultimate pre-season friendly at Elland Road for which a big new signing and star men are missing.

New giant goalkeeper Lucas Perri’s switch to the Whites was announced after the club’s second of two behind-closed-doors friendlies in Germany last weekend as Leeds prepared to fly back to England.

Perri, though, joined the club with a pre-existing niggle and is missing along with Jayden Bogle, Dan James and Jack Harrison who are all not involved in addition to Sebastiaan Bornauw who was known to be injured.

Trio who have featured heavily all missing

Bogle, James and Harrison, though, have all featured heavily in the pre-season games so far.

Isaac Schmidt, who had been recovering from a calf injury and did not feature in Germany, now makes his return and starts but Sebastiaan Bornauw is still missing as he continues his recovery from a quad injury.

With Perri out, Karl Darlow starts in goal behind a back four of Schmidt at right back, Garbiel Gudmundsson at left back and Pascal Struijk partnering Joe Rodon at centre-back as giant new defender Jaka Bijol drops to the bench.

Club captain Ethan Ampadu is partnered by summer signings Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff in what appears to be a three-man midfield behind a front three of Lukas Nmecha, Willy Gnonto and Brenden Aaronson who is back in the mix after his late return following his USA exploits.

Last season’s Championship Golden Boot winner Joel Piroe is named on the bench which features two keepers in Illan Meslier and Alex Cains.

Youngsters Harry Gray, Charlie Crew and Rhys Chadwick are also among the substitutes.

Leeds United v Villarreal: Darlow, Schmidt, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson, Ampadu, Stach, Longstaff, Gnonto, Aaronson, Nmecha. Subs: Meslier, Cairns, Bijol, Byram, Tanaka, Gruev, Crew, Ramazani, Chadwick, Gray, Piroe.
