PARAAG MARATHE ON LUKE AYLING — Leedsunited.com 10/1/24

Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe has thanked outgoing defender Luke Ayling, after his departure from the club was confirmed on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old completed a loan move to fellow Sky Bet Championship side Middlesbrough until the end of the campaign, with his contract at Elland Road set to expire at the end of the season.

Ayling moves on after seven-and-a-half years at the club and 268 appearances, leaving West Yorkshire as a legend and Leeds United chairman Marathe paid tribute to the full-back.

“I’d like to thank Luke for everything he has done for Leeds United," said Marathe.

"He is an impeccable professional and constantly gave his all for the badge, he wore with pride.

"His commitment to the club is rivalled only by his commitment to the Leeds community and our supporters, whose love he has earned during his time here.

"Luke is always welcome back at Elland Road and I wish him the best of luck on his next step.”
