DANIEL FARKE: IT’S ABOUT FINDING THE BACK OF THE NET - Leedsunited.com 4/9/23

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke spoke exclusively to LUTV following Saturday’s draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road.

The Whites were held to a 0-0 stalemate in the Sky Bet Championship in the first Yorkshire derby of the season.

Leeds boss Farke was left frustrated his side couldn’t capitalise on good chances made throughout the match.

“We are disappointed,” said Farke. “It’s a bit of the same story, we won each statistic, dominated the game and did enough to win the game, but it’s not about statistics, it’s just about finding the back of the net. We created more than enough against a deep sitting opponent, in order to win the game, so the outcome of just one point is a disappointing feeling. Goals change games and we have to find the opener.

“You can’t say anything against our approach as we brought ourselves into really good finishing positions. If a team parks the bus like Sheffield Wednesday tried and to take time away and slow the game down, then it’s not easy.

“When I think about our situations with Georginio Rutter in the first half one-against-one in the first half, Joel Piroe in a free shooting position from 18 yards, nine times out of 10 he scores. In the second half, Crysencio Summerville one-against-one, Georginio again one-against-one, Luke Ayling’s free header, I could go on like this.

“You need to find the goal and then the opponent has to open everything and then you can score three, four or five goals and everyone speaks about it being fantastic football.

“But if you don’t find the back of the net, then everyone is disappointed.”
