Angry Leeds fans take ‘unfair’ Cellino treatment to League’s doorstep

Yorkshire Post 6/1/15
LEEDS United fans stood shoulder to shoulder as they sought to draw attention to what they say is the club’s unfair treatment by the Football League.
Around 100 supporters took part in a peaceful protest outside the governing body’s head office in Preston today. A petition containing 20,000 names was also handed over.
The protest was organised after the league’s decision to bar Massimo Cellino from acting as an owner and director of United.
The ban, which is the subject of an appeal, relates to a tax conviction imposed on Cellino by a court in Cagliari. One of the demo organisers, Dean Ryan, described the day’s proceedings as “encouraging”.
A Football League spokesman said: “We fully understand the importance of fans having the opportunity to make their collective voice heard on such important matters and recognise this petition demonstrates a strength of feeling amongst many Leeds United supporters that we will take note of.”
