Neil Warnock gave a farewell speech to Leeds United’s squad as a line was drawn under his reign as manager of the Elland Road club.
Warnock spoke with his former players prior to their training session at Thorp Arch, three days after he and United parted company in the wake of a 16th league defeat of the season.
The 64-year-old, right, cleared out his belongings from his office on Tuesday while most of Leeds’ players were at a club event at Flamingo Land but he made a final appearance at their training ground as United began preparing for Saturday’s game at Charlton Athletic.
Caretaker manager and academy boss Neil Redfearn said: “Neil came in and said his goodbyes.
“He talked to all the players and I wasn’t privy to what he said, that was up to him, but whatever he did say, he left on good terms. I’m sure he wished them all the best and I’m sure he wants them to do well. You’ve got to remember he brought all these players in and it’s his team. He’ll want them to succeed.”
Warnock is likely to take a lengthy and possibly permanent break from football management, though Redfearn believes is not ready to call time on his career just yet.
