 Midfielder returns from Cheltenham Town...

Ian Westlake has returned to Leeds United after the club were unable to agree terms with Cheltenham Town to extend his stay at Whaddon Road.

The midfielder spent four days training with Cheltenham and featured in Tuesday's reserve game against Swindon Town when he impressed manager Martin Allen.

But the two clubs were unable to agree a deal for the player to make a loan move and he will now return to Leeds.

Cheltenham boss Allen said: "Ian has done a terrific job in training and I'm grateful to Leeds United for allowing him to come here.

"He has shown a good attitude for the game. He's not at all big time and he is a very good player."

Leeds United board break silence after transfer window with statement on upcoming Elland Road development — YEP 2/9/24

By Joe Donnohue Leeds United have confirmed supporters' commemorative stones at Elland Road's Centenary Square will be replaced free of charge in a bid to improve their longevity. Beginning next month, Leeds supporters' personalised stones will be replaced with exact replicas, courtesy of a new company, to ensure of a 'much better quality' installation. The work is expected to take around two months to complete. An official club statement confirmed 'three larger stones dedicated to former managers Don Revie, Howard Wilkinson and Marcelo Bielsa' will also be installed, 'similar to those located in Bremner Square', while additional space for supporters to purchase new stones has also been factored into the project. “The club have taken on board recent feedback from supporters on the stones at Centenary Square, and we are really happy that we can now announce that all of the stones will be replaced," chief executive Angus Kinnear confirmed,...

While the first team is preparing for the next friendly against Villarreal, the U21s side, with a host of first team stars, thrashed Norweigian side Lyn 1896 10-2 in a pre-season friendly this afternoon. There were some surprising names on the scoresheet – Patrick Bamford scored, Sam Greenwood netted a brace and Joe Gelhardt scored four goals in the game. This is the second friendly the trio have featured in; they played in the friendly against Hartlepool last weekend.
