United midfielder set to feature for Cheltenham Town...
United midfielder Ian Westlake has joined Cheltenham Town on a short-term trial basis.
The former Ipswich man is set to feature in Cheltenham's reserve side this week, and it could pave the way for him join the Whaddon Road club in a loan deal.
Westy hasn't figured in Gary McAllister's plans since his arrival as manager in January. His last outing in a Leeds shirt was in the 1-0 defeat at Southend in January when Gwyn Williams was in temporary charge of the team.
The 25-year-old spent the remaining weeks of last season on loan at Brighton and failed to figure in the senior squad at Elland Road during pre-season.
Gary Mac said: "I had a chat with Westy at the start of the season, and explained that I felt there were other players ahead of him.
"I'm pleased for him that he's got a chance now where, hopefully, he can play regular football."

Leeds United board break silence after transfer window with statement on upcoming Elland Road development — YEP 2/9/24

By Joe Donnohue Leeds United have confirmed supporters' commemorative stones at Elland Road's Centenary Square will be replaced free of charge in a bid to improve their longevity. Beginning next month, Leeds supporters' personalised stones will be replaced with exact replicas, courtesy of a new company, to ensure of a 'much better quality' installation. The work is expected to take around two months to complete. An official club statement confirmed 'three larger stones dedicated to former managers Don Revie, Howard Wilkinson and Marcelo Bielsa' will also be installed, 'similar to those located in Bremner Square', while additional space for supporters to purchase new stones has also been factored into the project. “The club have taken on board recent feedback from supporters on the stones at Centenary Square, and we are really happy that we can now announce that all of the stones will be replaced," chief executive Angus Kinnear confirmed,...

While the first team is preparing for the next friendly against Villarreal, the U21s side, with a host of first team stars, thrashed Norweigian side Lyn 1896 10-2 in a pre-season friendly this afternoon. There were some surprising names on the scoresheet – Patrick Bamford scored, Sam Greenwood netted a brace and Joe Gelhardt scored four goals in the game. This is the second friendly the trio have featured in; they played in the friendly against Hartlepool last weekend.
