How the 49ers plan to replace Angus Kinnear at Leeds United, it could involve Jurgen Klopp — Leeds United News 27/2/25

Angus Kinnear is set to leave Leeds United for Everton next
season as the 49ers will begin to draw up candidates for the vacancy.
The Leeds CEO is to put an end to his eight-year spell at
Elland Road, as Everton are confident of securing Kinnear.
It’s certainly brought mixed reaction around the club as
many favour Kinnear staying, but a minority wouldn’t be phased by his exit.
Daniel Farke didn’t say much regarding Kinnear, but all the
signs are pointing to the CEO making the jump to Merseyside.
This will now leave Leeds with a problem: Who replaces him?
There have been many mistakes in the career of the Leeds
CEO. Kinnear not accepting £33.5m for Harrison is certainly one.
It doesn’t mean he did a bad job on the whole, but Everton
fans aren’t welcoming Kinnear due to the Whites faithful giving him a harsh
reputation.
However, whether Kinnear did a solid job or not, a
replacement is needed.
Speaking exclusively to LeedsUnited.News, Graeme Bailey has
explained what the 49ers are planning to do, and remarkably, it could involve
Jurgen Klopp due to his new role at Red Bull.
“They’re assessing the situation and using their contacts
with Red Bull. Kinnear goes with his best wishes, he’s done a fantastic job
since being there,” Bailey said.
“Leeds will be disappointed, but it is on good terms.
“I think conversations will be going on with Red Bull and
the 49ers, the CEO is slightly different because they don’t have to be
necessarily ingrained in football. So it could be different.”
It’s difficult to say what candidates will be available, but
Leeds could already have a few lined up.
With Klopp making moves as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer,
the former Liverpool boss could definitely play a major role in finding a
suitable candidate for the Whites.
Josuha Guilavogui could move to Paris FC, another Red Bull
feeder club, as using current sources has been the way forward at Red Bull,
with the likes of Salzburg and Leipzig sharing their foundations.
Speaking on Salzburg, their current CEO, Stephan Reiter,
will see his contract expire in June 2026, which could provide an opportunity
for Leeds.
Taking into account the stature of both clubs, this could
work in Leeds’ favour due to their size, and Klopp might be able to find a
quick fix to Kinnear’s departure.
This is only a theory of what could happen, but like Bailey
said, it’s not crucial to the 49ers’ football operation.
