Leeds United now face January decision on Jack Harrison as Everton plan emerges — Leeds United News 1/1/25

Leeds United’s Jack Harrison has certainly endured a tough
first half of the season on loan at Everton. Now, emerging news from Goodison
Park could spell the end for the winger.
Leeds United’s Jack Harrison has so far featured 17 times
for Everton in the Premier League this season. But the 28-year-old is yet to
score or assist a single goal, with the Toffees struggling down in 16th place
of the Premier League table.
There’s been a lot of talk about Harrison. Everton boss Sean
Dyche has spoken about Harrison’s issues, insisting that the winger is just
waiting for the penny to drop. But amid Everton’s goal-scoring woes, something
needs to be done.
The Toffees have scored just 15 goals in the league this
season. Now with the January transfer window open, it looks like the perfect
time for Everton to hit the transfer market and salvage their Premier League
status for another season.
And that’s exactly what they intend on doing.
Emerging reports (via Goodison News) have suggested that
Everton will make funds available for a new winger during the January transfer
window, with Galatasaray’s Yunus Akgun one name who’s been linked going into
the New Year.
That then could mean Harrison falls right down the pecking
order. Whilst Everton fans have been unimpressed with Harrison, Leeds will
still want him to be performing well, as to retain his transfer value, and it
could mean a January recall is best for all involved.
Harrison’s last season for Leeds was the 2022/23 Premier
League campaign in which he featured 36 times, scoring five and assisting seven
more.
Sean Dyche’s Jack Harrison verdict speaks volumes, he could
still be a key player for Leeds United
Whilst Dyche recognises that Harrison isn’t firing right
now, he does recognise that there’s definite quality within the Englishman.
Earlier in the season, Dyche gave his verdict on Leeds star
Harrison, saying: “Jack Harrison has his question marks, he does an enormous
shift. His tactical understanding is excellent.
“He’s up with the best. Put him in the number ten and he
knows the role. Put him out wide and he knows the role, without shadow of a
doubt.”
Should Leeds be forced to recall him in January then it
wouldn’t be the end of the world. Leeds would be getting back a player with
proven quality at both Premier League and Championship level, and it would only
bolster their own promotion push.
Whether Harrison would want to is another question. Right
now though, he simply has to get back in the goals and assists, whatever league
that might be in.
