Andrea Radrizzani has posted on Twitter after it was reported that the takeover of Sampdoria has gone through and the Italian side are now safe with budgets approved – showing his first allegiance to his new side after selling Leeds.

Radrizzani angered Leeds fans when, on the same weekend and immediate days after Leeds were relegated after a 4-1 loss to Tottenham, he was seen in Italy undergoing talks to buy Sampdoria. He has since agreed a Leeds sale.

The 49ers have an agreement with Radrizzani to buy Leeds outright, taking over Radrizzani’s 56% stake. A deal is yet to go through but Leeds confirmed an agreement is in place. Meanwhile, Radrizzani has taken on Sampdoria.

Sampdoria, like Leeds, have been relegated from the top tier. The Italian club are in a poor state financially and there was even a threat of a points deduction in Serie B. But, journalist Matteo Basile has confirmed everything is safe.

The era of Sampdoria under Radrizzani is now underway. Radrizzani reacted to the tweet by posing his first sign of allegiance towards Sampdoria on social media. He simply posted a five-word message: “Go Samp. Let’s start again.”

Sampdoria are now in a position where they can plan for the 23-24 season, and aim for an instant return to the top tier, the Serie A. His exit and agreement to sell his 56% stake also allows Leeds to move on, and the 49ers to start.

So, it looks as if any lingering stench of Radrizzani at Elland Road has now been extinguished by the new aroma of the 49ers. Hopefully for Leeds, a new boss can be installed and sorting out the playing squad can be done soon.
