Phil Hay: Leeds believe Bielsa's team will emerge from under a low cloud - MOT Leeds News 22/10/21

Leeds United have won just once in eight Premier League games so far in 2021-22, and some of the fans are starting to get worried.

The Yorkshire side sit precariously in 17th place in the top-flight table, and while some clubs would have reacted by making some harsh managerial calls, the alarm bells are not ringing at Elland Road yet.

According to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, the Leeds hierarchy remains confident of Marcelo Bielsa’s abilities and continues to believe that his team will emerge from under a low cloud.

Trigger-happy Watford wasted no time parting ways with Xisco Munoz after their defeat at Elland Road on matchday 7.

Steve Bruce has left Newcastle United after a winless start to the season, but Bielsa is not at the risk of being shown the exit door anytime soon for so many reasons.

Injuries have undoubtedly played a role in Leeds’ poor start to the campaign, and the Argentine would have been left to rue his side’s unluckiness so far.

Despite their struggles, the club knows Bielsa remains the perfect man for this job and is very much capable of pulling them out of the mire.

The Whites host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday before visiting Norwich City next weekend, and they could pick up at least four points from the fixtures.

Things could get very trickier afterwards, though, with some tough run of games up next.

Leeds face Leicester before the next international break and will resume with clashes against Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Brentford, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

They need to be far away from the relegation zone before their trip to Anfield on boxing day, and how they head into the New Year and second half of the season is likely to have a huge say on a lot of things.
