Jesse Marsch hails ‘complete’ Leeds United performance in victory over Chelsea - The Athletic 21/8/22

Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch hailed the “complete
performance” his team put in as the West Yorkshire side cruised to a 3-0
victory over Chelsea at Elland Road.
Goals from USMNT’s Brenden Aaronsen, Rodrigo and Jack
Harrison sealed the three points for Marsch’s team, who have now climbed to
third in the Premier League.
A mistake from Eduoard Mendy and the sending off of Kalidou
Koulibaly wrapped up a miserable day for Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea, but US
coach Marsch believes his team fully deserved the victory.
He said to Sky Sports: “It’s a complete performance.
“We had a few different plans based on what they would look
like and the guys did a really good job adjusting tactically for what we
needed.
“We wanted to play with confidence and with aggression, but
do it in a way that it was still controlled. We wanted to be brave with the
ball and I think we accomplished a load of those goals.
“I said to them (the players) afterwards that the feeling
inside, even from the first day I came, is that this is a special team and a
special group. The validation right now is important but it should also mean
hunger for us to continue to improve.”
Aaronson said to Sky Sports: We dreamed about it for a long
time and for me it’s a dream come true, and for this club it shows how much
progress we’ve made.
“It kind of just shows you who wants it more. We had the
drive today, the crowd got us pumped up the whole time.”
Leeds’ next fixture comes in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday
against Barnsley.
